The danger for agri-food products and potential harms to human health procured by mycotoxins are well known worldwide. The training program starts by introducing the topic and its global relevance, as well as its implications on health and economics. Legislation issues are presented too. Mycotoxins in cereals, the fungi involved and their ecophysiology, as well as fungal interaction with host crop in field and preventive actions, are described. Other relevant issues: correct grain management at harvest/post-harvest; the role of processing; mycotoxin reduction techniques and applicable analytical methods, together with the quality of obtainable results; and the HACCP approach for mycotoxins management. Practical observations in pre and post- harvest will also be provided.

Life cycle of toxigenic fungi in cereals;

minimizing fumonisins and aflatoxins in the maize chain and deoxynivalenol in wheat

- Thursday:

Aflatoxins in the dairy chain;  partitioning and reduction of mycotoxins during processing; mycotoxin adsorbents

- Friday:

Analytical tools for mycotoxin analysis; HACCP and CCP in mycotoxin mitigation

The course will be delivered in English. Upon request, this course can be repeated in another language.

Participation Fee

The participation fee is € 1,600.00. For applications made before June 2nd 2015 a 20% discount will be applied (participation fee = € 1,280.00)

If two or more members of an organization apply for the same course the first participant will pay the full fee, but additional members will have a reduced participation fee of € 1,200.00.

The application deadline for the course SAF04 is July 17th, 2015.

The participation fee includes:

- Tuition costs, including all training materials and use of the location’s training facilities and related services

- Participant costs, including the course field trips, transfer to and from EXPO Milano 2015 + entrance ticket, the lunches of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, a gala dinner and special evening event, and a final dinner.
