This course will comprise lectures and practical sessions using the MERLIN-Expo tool to teach advanced modelling methods, environmental fate, human exposure and pharmacokinetics, so that participants will gain an excellent understanding of the principles of advanced modelling techniques.

The MERLIN-Expo software is a new tool for the assessment of human exposure to environmental contaminants. It integrates multimedia, PBPK and dose-response models to address the entire exposure assessment chain. In addition, it accounts for the lifetime exposure of different human populations, for exposure through multiple pathways and it allows performing uncertainty and sensitivity analysis.

- Monday:

Integrated risk assessment

Overview of legislation for risk assessment

Human exposure modelling: innovative issues and standard documentations

Practical Session: MERLIN-Expo tool: general overview and simple demonstration of the software

- Tuesday:

Occurrence of pharmaceuticals in Iberian rivers: prioritization and modeling

General overview of three case studies

QSAR Models

Practical Session: food web modelling in the Venice Lagoon

- Wednesday:

Visit to EXPO Milano 2015

- Thursday:
