Tortelli di zucca - Blisgón
"Blisgón" are the famous pumpkin ravioli of Casalmaggiore. The name derives from the dialect “blisgèr” meaning slip. The ravioli are rectangular, and are a filled with a pumpkin puree seasoned with “Mostarda di Cremona”, macaroons and nutmeg. The ravioli are commonly served with melted butter and sage to enhance the harmony of flavors, though are sometimes served with fried bacon and tomato sauce. After careful research to trace the original recipe, this dish was recognized as a typical product of Casalmaggiore in 2010 and was awarded the quality assurance label “DE.CO” that guarantees the uniqueness and quality of the products from a given location.
The Casteldidone melon is one of the traditional food products recognized by the Lombardy Region. From the nutritional point of view, the melon is very rich in minerals, particularly potassium. Moreover, it provides a high intake of vitamin C and beta-carotene, as well as vitamins A, B1, B2, and PP. In addition, it has a limited caloric intake and is readily digestible. The quality of the melon from Casteldidone is achieved thanks to the characteristics of the soil, the experience of the farmers and the traditional cultivation techniques used. The melons are cultivated within a limited geographical area that only includes Casteldidone, Casalmaggiore, San Giovanni in Croce and Rivarolo del Re.
